Douglas C.A.R.E.S. has been partnering with children and families affected by abuse for over three decades. Founded on the belief that every child deserves a safe and supportive environment, our journey began with a small team of dedicated professionals committed to making a difference. Over the years, we’ve grown in both reach and impact, but our core mission remains unchanged: to provide compassionate, expert care to those in need. Our story is woven through the lives we’ve touched, the healing we’ve facilitated, and the community we’ve built—a testament to the enduring power of kindness, support, and understanding.

Meet Houston

Hi everybody! We would like to introduce you to a new member of our team, Houston. Houston is a 2-year old black lab who will be a constant presence throughout our facility. Houston has been extensively trained in responding to and assisting with trauma induced behaviors and emotions. Along with our fantastic staff members, Houston plays an integral part in helping families cope with trauma by providing a calming and comforting presence. Houston will accompany our clients as they participate in forensic interviews, forensic medical examinations, crisis intervention and court hearings/trials. As you can see, Houston is a busy boy and we are very excited to have him on our team!
